ECM Titanium Tuning Tips
In the world of advanced tuning, achieving high performance with production-based engines requires the installation of an upgraded turbocharger, whether on diesel or gasoline engines. This practice, known as Stage 3, demands precise calibration to ensure optimal performance across the entire RPM range while maintaining safe and reliable operation.
One of the key aspects of this upgrade is managing the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor, which must be replaced because the original sensor’s reading range is insufficient for the new turbocharger and the desired boost pressures. Upgrading the hardware ensures the correct monitoring of new pressure values.
With ECM Titanium, you can precisely calibrate the MED17.5 ECU to accommodate a new turbocharger, ensuring optimal performance. Modifying the MAP sensor and its associated maps is a crucial step in accurately managing boost pressure and maximizing engine efficiency, guaranteeing smooth and controlled power delivery.
Key parameters to adjust:
To properly integrate the new turbocharger, you must adjust the maps that regulate minimum and maximum voltage values. The minimum and maximum voltage values of the MAP sensor must be set exactly as specified in the datasheet of the new sensor.
Additionally, it is crucial to rescale the Offset and Slope values of the sensor to recalibrate the ECU’s response based on the new pressure readings.

MAP Sensor optimization on a Volkswagen Scirocco 137:
Thanks to the maps available in the Bosch ME17.5 ECU driver (used in the Volkswagen Scirocco 137), you can install an upgraded turbocharger and recalibrate the MAP sensor with precision and efficiency.
This guide will show you how to adjust the sensor calibration maps using ECM Titanium, which not only ensures maximum precision in ECU calibration but also offers several strategic advantages for professionals in the tuning industry:
Intuitive Interface – Its user-friendly design allows you to work quickly and efficiently on maps, reducing tuning time.
Comprehensive Database – A vast library of available drivers provides immediate access to necessary parameters, making each tuning job faster and more accurate.
Increased Operational Efficiency – By reducing calibration time, you can handle more vehicles in less time, boosting your workflow without sacrificing quality.
Premium Services Offering – Personalized and precise recalibration helps you stand out from the competition and charge higher rates for specialized tuning services.
Market Expansion – ECM Titanium supports all file types, allowing you to expand your target audience and work on a growing number of vehicles.
Before starting the modification: it is essential to know the specifications of the new sensor installed on the vehicle to correctly set its values within the maps.
Voltage Settings (Min and Max): these two single-point maps define the minimum and maximum voltage values that the sensor can handle. These values must be set exactly according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Rescaling Settings: this single-point map recalibrates the sensor’s sensitivity—i.e., the ratio between output variation and input variation. In practical terms, this calculates how many hPa per Volt the sensor provides. To program the new value into the ECU:
Offset Settings: this map adjusts the pressure reading when the sensor’s output voltage is at 0V (theoretical 0V, as the typical minimum value is 0.5V, corresponding to the lowest measurable pressure).
To implement this modification, you must determine how voltage variations affect pressure readings (Slope). The Offset value is calculated as follows:
With ECM Titanium and precise recalibration, you can meet your customers’ needs by modifying the parameters of the ME17.5 ECU and achieving:
