The Ducati Hypermotard 950 has been, since its first generation, a winning bet for the Bolognese manufacturer. With this model, Ducati has successfully emphasized its sporty DNA, encapsulating it in a dynamic and versatile motorcycle. Powered by a 937 cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine, the Hypermotard 950 delivers up to 114 HP at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 96 Nm at 7,250 rpm.

Unique in its segment, this motorcycle is not only powerful but also extremely lightweight and responsive, with a dry weight of just 178 kg and optimized chassis dynamics designed to offer maximum fun, both on the road and on the track.
The latest generation of the Testastretta engine, in addition to the traditional desmodromic distribution system, stands out for its advanced electronics, designed to ensure flawless control and optimal safety in every riding mode.

Thanks to these features, the Ducati Hypermotard 950 is perfectly suited for electronic tuning interventions. What results were achieved?

To achieve a satisfying outcome without mechanical interventions, precise and professional optimization was performed on the engine management parameters to enhance performance while maintaining the engine’s full reliability. The work focused on various maps within the Driver of the Continental M4C ECU, specifically addressing:

  • Load Limiters and Throttle Valve

By modifying the values limiting engine load, it is possible to increase the air request percentage, thereby boosting the flow regulated by the throttle valve. This component was electronically optimized to enhance performance, ensuring smoother and more responsive power delivery.

  • Einspritzung

The injection maps control the amount of fuel injected according to the engine’s needs. The recalibration allowed for optimizing the air/fuel ratio, improving both performance and fuel efficiency. Additionally, by refining the correction parameters, the injected fuel quantity was precisely adjusted, ensuring optimal management even under varying driving conditions.

  • Torque Limiters and Management

Increasing the torque limiter values unleashed the engine’s full potential, maximizing its performance. Simultaneously, precise torque management improved power delivery during acceleration phases, ensuring a quick and progressive response across all RPM ranges for a smoother and more engaging riding experience.

  • Ignition Timing

Adjustments to ignition timing parameters are necessary to ensure optimal fuel combustion under all conditions. Specifically, it was crucial to optimize ignition timing according to environmental variables and load conditions.

  • Rev Limiter

Lastly, modifications were made to the rev limiter. This allowed the engine to reach higher RPMs, expanding the power usage range.

After this intervention, the Hypermotard has completely transformed its character while keeping torque and power figures almost unchanged. For motorcycles, significant increases are not always necessary to revolutionize rideability and performance, thanks to their favorable power-to-weight ratio. In this specific case, the Ducati recorded:

120 hp – 112 Nm

This improvement allows the Hypermotard 950 to compete on the track with motorcycles from higher categories without compromising engine reliability.
