The protagonist of this development is the N57D30T0 engine, the evolution of the M57TU2D30. It shares not only the inline-six architecture but also the dimensional characteristics with the latter. Therefore, it has the same bore and stroke measurements and the same displacement, amounting to 2993 cm³. This engine, entirely constructed of aluminum alloy, adopts a twin-turbo system with variable geometry, significantly reducing turbo-lag. Compared to its predecessor, it achieves better thermal efficiency, leading to a 10% performance increase and a 7% reduction in fuel consumption.

Installed in the 5 Series F10, it represents one of the most advanced and high-performing diesel engines in the lineup. This engine offers a balance between power, efficiency, and refinement, making it an excellent choice for a luxury sedan/touring like the 5 Series F10.

In its stock configuration, this 535d boasted 310 hp and 630 Nm, already excellent values allowing the car to move comfortably in any condition without needing to exploit all the available power.
